Canadian Recreational Yachting Association (CRYA) instructors are all experienced boaters, with the personality traits that make them outstanding instructors. All are mature adults, having embraced the cruising lifestyle and probably owned and operated a variety of boats. Some specialize in teaching on sail boats, from 27-footers to 50-footers, and others on power boats in the same size range. Several instructors teach on both Sail and Power vessels. Full listing of CRYA affiliated Sailing Schools and certified Instructors on the CRYA website.
CRYA’s Code of Ethics specifies that:
- all Instructors and School representatives are expected to treat other Students, Instructors, and members of the boating community with dignity and respect;
- all will act in a manner that will contribute to a safe, positive and constructive learning and boating environment;
- Schools and instructors will demonstrate professional courtesy and integrity in all dealings and behave in an environmentally responsible manner at all times; and
- All will strive for excellence in quality of service to clients.
Some comments from past students and charterers:
“WOW! We got so much more than we expected… good instruction, of course, but also gourmet meals, we got to see whales, seals, sea lions, eagles & otters, and never a dull moment!”
“In the face of challenging seas & crew dynamics, AG was unflappable; calm & giving clear direction to all around so we could safely get to our destination.”
